1. What software version do I have to download for the ALL-11C/C2/P/P2/P3 ?
2. Where can I see whether my chip can be programmed with a Hilo programmer?
3. My chip is not listed in your device list. Does this mean it's not supported ?
- In most cases we are interested in adding support for additional chips to our programmer's software. This usually takes 3-4 weeks, depending on the complexity of the chip. This process can be expedited if the customer can provide 8-10 sample chips for testing. In most cases an existing adapter/converter can be made to support a new chip from an existing family. Occasionally a new adapter type is required. Although we try to cover a broad range of chips, some chips may never be supported due to complexity or low demand.
4. What are the main differences between ALL-11C ALL-11C2, ALL-11P ALL-11P2 and ALL-11P3 ?
- Hardware design and programming speed vary according to the model, but all our adaptors and converters are compatible in supporting. Updated software for ALL-11P3 can be applied in all three models. Main distinctions of each model:
- ALL-11C -- RS232 connection to the PC, the module does not work with PAC-GANG-08. External power supply.
- ALL-11C2 -- Parallel connection to the PC, the module does not work with PAC-GANG-08. External power supply.
- ALL-11P -- RS 232 connection to PC, no parallel port, can work with PAC-GANG-08. Internal power supply. Obsolete model.
- ALL-11P2 -- Parallel and RS232 connection to PC, can work with PAC-GANG-08. Internal power supply.
- ALL-11P3 -- USB and parallel connection to PC, can work with PAC-GANG-08. Internal power supply.

5. The base unit of the ALL-11 has a 40-pin DIP socket. How can I program chips that won't fit, eg. SOP, PLCC?
- There are a lot of adapters/converters that can be placed on top of the ALL-11 in order to support a wide range of chips in a variety of packages.
You can search for devices at: http://www.hilo-europe.com/html/search.php
6. What is the difference between a Converter and an Adapter?
- A Converter re-routes the pinning to meet the demands of the package of the chip. No additional drivers are required.
- An Adapter is the same as a converter with the additional of a bit of electronics to meet the demands of programming the chip. This can be a buffer, oscillator etc. An additional driver is required.
7. I want to do in-circuit programming. Can I use a Hilo programmer ?
- No. Generally we do not recommended in-circuit programming. Wires leading from the programmer to a circuitboard can affect the electrical signals to the circuit connected to the programmer. Additionally we do not recommend in-circuit programming because the presence of additional components in the circuit may cause damage to the programmer.
8. My programmer does not function correctly:
- If you use Windows 2000/XP you must be logged in as administrator during install and operation.
- Update the total software, if you have ALL-11 series, use ALL-11P3 software. You can find software updates at: http://www.hilo-europe.com/html/update.htm
- Update software drivers (try newer AND older drivers). You can select and download drivers at: http://www.hilo-europe.com/html/search.php
- Try diagnostic selftest. (Only in the ALL-11 software) Options => Diagnostic tester.
- Check the correct IO port (USB/ LPT(=parallel)/ RS232), LPT port should be EPP/ECP
- Did you select the correct adapter/ converter? see http://www.hilo-europe.com/html/search.php
- Check for dirty/ faulty contacts on socket or device.
1) Lay pins of a PLCC IC flat on an A4 paper, move the IC back and forth to get rid of the oxide. Reprogram a few more ICs to check the result. When this works, you have already solved the problem.
2) Check if there is oxide on the connecting metal of the socket. Periodically brush away the oxide with remover to keep the socket clean and prolong its life expectancy.
- Try it on another computer.
- Is the device protected?
- Contact hilo europe for support.
9. What does "ID Code Error" mean?
- It means that the programmer doesn't think that the chip in the socket matches the type of chip you have selected in the software. Double check the exact part number.

10. I have chips with their protection bit enabled. Can the ALL-11 read them?
- No, our programmers honor software protection bits.
11."Error Identification on hardware!" appears after selecting the desired type, should one continue the programming function?
- "Error Identification on hardware!" message indicates improper connection between computer and the programmer or the programmer has no power.
You have to reset the I/O address of the programmer to the correct position.
12. Why do ICs with the same partnumber require a different converter, adapter or head?
- There are different packages for the same IC number. The programming function works only properly when a suitable converter, adapter or head is placed.
13. I have some adapters and converters for the ALL-07. Do they function on the ALL-11?
- Yes, Adapters and converters for the ALL-07 can be used. PACKs can not.
14. My Question is not in the list?
